Get all dolled up! Even when you're just sitting at home.
These are the strangest of times . . . I think we can all agree that 2020 has not gone as planned. In fact, in the simplest of terms, it is like the world has been cancelled and we have all been sent to our rooms to think about what we have done.
In some ways, that has its advantages.
Who needs make up when you have no where to go.
Hello sweat pants my old friend.
Or PJS. All. Day. Long.
I don't think anyone knows what a bra is anymore.
That wild mane you woke up with, no need to tame it. Let it flow free or throw that sucker in a messy bun.
The list can go on. Which is all OK, Enjoy it! Have fun with it. Relax in the sweet knowledge that you can let out your inner troll and no one will know or care. The one thing you do not want to do is let it become your new normal. It can seriously wear on your mental and physical health.
As the days go on and start to morph together you get into this rut. You begin to feel tired all the time and you may even stop caring about personal hygiene. When you look in the mirror, you no longer see that happy, perky, put together person you used to be. Those hateful thoughts about yourself start creeping in and your mood drops way down.
It is time to BREAK OUT of that! One of the best ways to do that it is to Get. Dolled. Up. Do your hair, your make up and put on one of your favorite outfits. Who cares if it just to sit around the house. Sometimes, just the simple act of getting ready can brighten up your mood and make you feel more productive. Yes I know it can be a lot of work, and being a potato on the couch is so much easier. But, one of the great things about having no where to go, is you can take allllllllll the time in the world to get ready!! Try out that new eye shadow look you've been dying to try but never had the time to. Who cares if it takes you 2 hours to get ready. Drink your coffee, or glass of wine, and take your sweet time getting ready because you can. The important thing is that you do it, Getting ready will help you feel yourself which will in turn chase a lot of those nasty thoughts away and lift up your mood.
States are slowly starting to open back up. You're able to get back to some of the things that you used to. ( Like coming to see me to get your hair done ;) ) Which is great, but it is still important to limit the amount of times you are around people and stay home when possible. So do your part and stay home, just don't forget to get ready from time to time. It will benefit your mental health and over all well being.
We are all in this together. Lets stay safe, healthy and our beautiful bad selves ;)
